Today, stupid Google Maps took us through a wicked traffic jam caused by a closed freeway, when it could have steered us completely around it.

And then it tricked us into going through it again.

I don’t want to talk about it any more. 👿

(At least we eventually made it to Tuscany in spite of that stupid app, so, once again, all’s well that ends well…harrumph…)

We love finding #musical #gems whenever we #travel, and we found lots of #great #music on this trip!

This is a guitar-violin duo in #Dubrovnik, #Croatia, who were set up just inside the #walls of the #Old #City.
.
They had an #innovative idea! In addition to the #traditional #CDs available for #sale, they also offered a #USB #Key, since lots of people don’t even have #CDplayers anymore. Moreover, their #USBkey is crafted with a #wooden (#bamboo?) cover and a wooden box! #Picture after the #video.

Of course, I got one of each, lol!

After #wandering #happily around the #Römerberg for a while, taking in a #firefighting demonstration, and starting to feel the need for #food and #drink, we found this #quartet playing away on a busy #sidestreet.
.
Stayed and watched and #listened to them for several minutes, maybe fifteen or so, before #hunger got the better of us. Really felt like we were in #Germany, listening to them!
...especially when they had to compete with the #churchbells #clanging away just up the #street. Ha ha!
.
And yes, of course I #bought one of their #CDs. Asked which one I should get, and the #accordion player on the left recommended a #JSBach collection.
.
Now reunited with the house #computer with a #CD player in it, it’s time to give it a spin!

On our last day in #Split, #Croatia, the #sun came out and we went for an extended #walk around the place we were staying, which is in the bedroom community of #Stobreč.
.
On the other side of the #hill we climbed, it turned out there was a wonderful #clifftop #view of the #Adriatic #Sea!
.
The #weather for our stay there was frequently #chilly and #rainy, much like #Vancouver in #June. We were happy to see the sun whenever it did decide to peek out and let us see better just how pretty this place is! This view didn’t disappoint, to be sure!

A *very* rare share of a pic of myself. We went for a #walk in old #Frankfurt, and discovered a massive #street #festival of all the emergency services here! I used to work for #RedCross in #Canada, so I was fascinated to learn about their programs and services here in #Germany.

This #emergency #response #vehicle of theirs is #amazing. I’m so happy I got to check it out, and swap stories with their #rep, who is also a #lifeguard, like I used to be until #illness knocked me out of it.

It reminded me of one of my #favourite #TV shows when I was a very little girl: Speed Racer, lol! What’s more, we didn’t own a #car then, and my parents didn’t even yet have their driver’s licenses! Funny, eh?

The #Dubrovnik #International #Airport is in such a #beautiful #location, I had to give this #snapshot from the window of our #plane as we turned from the #taxiway onto the #runway its own post.

We got a lot of #rain and #cloud during our visit to both #Croatia and #Montenegro, but we also were treated to spells of brilliant #sunshine! In between, we witnessed numerous #light displays as the #sun and #clouds jockeyed for dominance.

#Dubrovnik #Airport is very much under a massive expansion #construction #project. It was quite something to see #asphalt rollers working away right beside our #airplane as we reached the ##beginning of the #runway!

Did you know? (I didn’t!) #Montenegro was given its name by #Italians who first saw a dark #mountain covered with tall #trees. Monte=mountain Negro (pronounced “nay-grow”)=black, or “Black Mountain. It has a different #local #name, but I can’t even guess how to spell it! .
Also just learned: just like #Vancouver, you can #ski in the #mountains in the #morning, and #lounge on the #beach in the #afternoon!

Except for the #palmtree, this feels SO much like #home! Very #westcoast. Oh, wait... this IS the #west #coast... except it’s in #Dubrovnik, #Croatia, on the #eastern side of the #AdriaticSea, instead of on the west coast of #Canada on the eastern side of the #PacificOcean.
